📝 AITA for arguing with my SO about politics?

I’ve been in this relationship for a while. My SO is someone who loves to debate and play devils advocate and it kind of drives me insane because they do it with everything. Sometimes I’ll just want to vent and it turns into a full blown debate. Today, I mentioned to him that Pete Navarro fabricated a source (himself) to support his tariff argument. To me, this was academic dishonesty. To him, it’s allowed cause he’s a harvard educated economist.

We then descended into ad hominem attacks, I probably started this because i told him he sounded stupid for making such a point. He then called me a third year drop out who is wrong about everything, and that I’m a whore and prostitute. To be fair, I told him he sounded like a crack head by doubling down on his point. We’ve been having these debates a lot and I’m always defensive because I just know which position he’s going to take yet I keep running into it—cause idk, i guess i like talking to him?

Anyway, the “third year” comment really hurt—I regret not finishing college. I did okay without it, but i’m always stagnant in my current career and he’s always called this out. So i dipped and went to do my work at a coffee shop far away.

Lately discussions of any sort feel like a coin toss. I’m willing to be held accountable btw, so feel free to designate me the AH if it applies.
