This is a long post get ready. Before we hop in micheal is her friends boyfriend. she told me, I pushed back, and things got kind of heated so here. Here is the full conversation between us I’m the one who doesn’t think it’s cool that she stole a stop sign and things got angry

Her: I have a stop sign I stole it

Me: huh? Is it real?

Her: yeah I stole it and it's mine now Me really? Her: yes

Me: how

Her: I saw it on the road by Micheal's house, picked it up and took it On Monday you can come see it if I leave it in my garage

Me why tho isn't it a crime

Her: road sign is cool since it's not on a pole it's not illegal

Me: where was it then

Her: on the ground near a construction sight in Micheal's neighborhood

Me: that's a crime (her name redacted) don't be doin that

Her: it's not a crime it wasn't on a pole google it. Plus I could be doing something worse

Her: okay well 1 it's prolly not valuable 2 it can't cause an accident cuz it literally wasn't up 3 you can't bring yourself to actually punch me voilently(I'm a wimp and a respectful one)

Me: 1 that's not why it's a crime so it doesn't matter 2 clearly the sign came from something that's why it's there and now it's gone 3 that wasn't the point

Her: 1 trust micheal said it was fine so I did it 2 the construction people took it down and it's been in the same spot for a month so I took it 3 yeah I know And that's not the only one we have either

Me :1 that doesn't help at all why would you trust that redneck like that 2 how the hell do you know that 3ok 4 wtf are they like trophies

Her: 1 he's been in the military so it's fine 2 I've been to his house a lot and I've seen the construction (I didn't see this one my bad)

Me: next you take a bunch of yield signs

Her nah we got a detour 2 more stop signs, a wrong way, a one way, and a do not enter By we I mean micheal I only have the one

Me: I think ur dumb for that But You can make your own decisions And i can't even testify against you during court

Her: I think ur dumb for a lot of things but whatever And who's gonna arrest me Anyways want a sign

Me; why would I want a sign and no

Her: cuz it's cool and shiny

Me it's new? That's so much worse You stole a new one

Her: LiSTEN it was knocked down plus they replaced it so

Me: did they really

Her: yes

Me: Or are you just saying that That's the sort of thing you say to get someone off your back

Her: no they did Trust me if it wasn't laying there for as long as it was I wouldn't have taken it

Me; so you don't actually know if it got replaced Besides why would you grab it it's a sign

Her: It's cool and big and shiny trust I'm not a bad person

I tried to be respectful but she kept doubling down, saying stuff like “Michael said it was fine” and “it was just lying there,” and even offered me a sign like it was a party favor.

I don’t know — maybe I was too judgemental maybe this doesn't matter at all maybe this blown way out of proportion. It's a literal crime though what are we going to do if something happens. AITA for calling her out instead of just laughing it off? I'm right. Right?
