I (F27) went on a date with a guy (M41) where we discussed politics and I used the word retard to describe most of humanity and he laughed.

When we went back to his place things were going great. His dog was cute and I spent 30 minutes cuddling her. We realized she smelled kinda weird and he insisted that he needed to give her a quick bath. I said ok. After an hour and a half we end up in his bedroom, but his dog comes in with the zoomies from her bath. I coax her out of the room and closed the door and jokingly called her a retard.

I was obviously joking as I thought the dog was really cute. He immediately says “Oh, that’s not okay.” I was really confused and said “what?” He wasn’t okay with me calling his dog a retard.

I apologized profusely and said it was a joke and that I thought he would be fine with it given that I used the term in public and he consistently made racist jokes all night so I had thought he was fine with Non-PC jokes.

He said he had what he thinks is called the ick. I said sorry and left. He said “maybe we can try again someday” and I said No.
