My friends and I were planning a trip in summer to France, where we would be recording music at a studio and also generally holidaying. Of the 7 people going 4 are in the band and 3 are there purely for the holiday aspect.
The plan had been for me to drive down with luggage and gear and the rest to fly, to bring down the cost of bring instruments on the plane.
Just as we were about to get flights and ferries booked, 2 of the 3 non-band members decided they'd sooner not pay for me to take their luggage and pay the flight company instead (the cost is the same for them either way). This makes driving no longer economical.
I said that I was not going to be able to drive then I didn't want to go since half my motivation for driving was to be able to explore the local areas rather than just being stuck at the studio.
I have said that I will still pay my share of the studio cost and other than that my not going does not monetarily affect anyone going.
AITA for thinking that it is fair enough that I not want to spend money on a holiday I don't think I will enjoy.
