I (20F) am an education major, and I’m currently doing a clinical once a week. A guy in my class has the same time and place as I do, but he can’t drive. He asked our professor about transportation, and the professor asked me if I would be able to drive him because he knew we have the same clinical. I said yes I could drive him for the semester. We have a class together, then leave from there to go to our placement. After we are done there, I drive him home which is only about 15 minutes out of my way. My boyfriend (23M) is upset that I am driving him home on those days. From my perspective, because I offered to drive him to the placement, it’s also my job to drive him back. I see it as the kind thing to do and i don’t mind the drive. From my boyfriend‘s perspective, he doesn’t understand why the guy can’t get picked up, bus home, or be dropped back at the university to be picked up by his parents later. bringing him back to the university would cut the drive by 5-7 minutes. My boyfriend wants me to imagine the roles were reversed and I said I would not be upset, though he doesn’t believe me. I told him I’m going to continue driving this guy as there’s only three more times left.

Am I the asshole for continuing to drive the guy to our placement? edit: a few years ago, in full transparency, there were some valid trust issues that were my fault and that’s why he is worried. but there has been nothing like that since then.
