📝 AITA for ignoring my coworker after a comment she made?

I (27F) have been working at my current job for 9 months. At first, everything was fine. For context, my boss is very close friends with about half of our coworkers. Over time, it became obvious that this group of "friends" didn’t put much effort into their work, yet they were always the ones getting recognized, rewarded, or given privileges.

Even though I’m one of the people who works the hardest, I never cared that they didn’t put in the same effort. I noticed they would talk behind my back sometimes, but I still kept things civil with them.

About a month ago, my boss hosted a party at her house. Due to personal reasons, I couldn’t attend. A few days later, some coworkers told me what one of the girls (who’s a close friend to my boss) at the party she proudly said: “I don’t hang out with people who aren’t on my same status” and implied she was classist (meaning she looks down on or discriminates against people based on their social or economic background)

That really struck a nerve. I come from a hardworking family (a seamstress, a cleaner, a butler…) who’ve dealt with humiliation and discrimination. To me, continuing to interact with someone who talks like that feels like betraying my values and my family.

Since then, I’ve completely ignored her. I only interact with her if it’s strictly work-related. Some of my friends think I’m overreacting and say I should just let it go.

So… AITA for choosing to ignore my coworker after that comment?
