I, 30M and my dad 52M has gotten into a dispute lately. He had this friend, 46M whom I've been seeing for about a year now. I love him and he love me. The problem is that recently, my dad and his friend got an argument about gay rights, well, specifically, his friend came out to him as gay and my dad, who is very religious and conservative rebuked him and called him slurs and that he would go to hell for being gay. Eventually my dad told the entire family that we are to cease contact with his friend(who was kind of like a family friend to us for quite sometime now), but regardless, I decided to keep dating his friend anyways. Just now, my dad caught me and his friend in bed cuddling and my dad was very upset and he thinks that his friend has "given me the Gay" and he tried to kick his friend out of the house, but since it was my house, I just kicked him instead and kept his friend in and my dad told me that I am no longer his son for being gay. My mom has told me that while my dad was wrong, I shouldnt have kicked him out and try to reason with him because he is my dad and that I shouldnt be dating his friend anymore out of respect, but I dont care, me and his friend been dating for a year now and its not my fault my dad is anti LGBTQ. So, am I the asshole?"
