Opinions appreciated! I was in a 6 year relationship with a man who lived 110 miles away and I undertook all of the travelling due to his demanding work schedule. I visited him almost every weekend and would often take my now teenagers who had a close relationship with him. He initially said he wanted a LTR and I expressed my desire to live together or move to his town. But as the years went by he became evasive…he finally agreed he would consider looking for a job near me but then admitted he had lied…and was happy with this weekend arrangement. He stated that if I wanted a live in partner I would need to look elsewhere…after 4 years! I got upset as he would not phone all week…including when I was ill. Recently a close family member was taken to hospital with a second suspected heart attack so I was unable to visit. My teen was alone with them for the first heart attack so was quite traumatised . I looked to him for support but he sent a dismissive text, and did not ring me or the kids to comfort us….but went out to a party with friends that evening. We argued about this when I expressed my upset and he subsequently ignored me for the next few days.

I ended it as I was not prepared to put in so much effort for so little in return..not even a phone call to my kids who wanted his support and loved him as a step dad. . AITAH?
