I (24f) have been working at my job for nearly 2 years. There's a list of problems at my work I could cycle through but there's not enough hours in a day for that lol.
Mid February, we got a new hire (30m) that moved from Russia. He would end up replacing my previous coworker, who I share the same position with. We also sat right by one another.
So this new guy starts, we'll call him Jim.
Right off the bat he's very nice and friendly, and does very well in certain aspects of the job...however, he came in with supposedly 3 years of experience, but never misses a day where he's asking the same questions, or asking me to look over his work and validate him. It's become increasingly frustrating. Yes, he's still new, and I understand he'll have some questions, but he's constantly second guessing himself.
When he started, he got one-on-one training for the first 2-weeks he got here. Then he had someone shadow him to make sure he understood everything, but that never really ended, because people are still babysitting him.
Despite all of this, my boss continues to choose blissful ignorance about Jim's work.
Other coworkers are also just telling Jim what to do or flat out doing his work, instead of showing him how to do something so he understands. I think one of the reasons they let his mistakes pass, is because they're enamored with the fact that he's from Russia.
Today like many days, he asked for my help several times, and I got to the point where instead of doing his work for him, I had him do it, while I gave him some tips.
When I first started, I had very little training and would get shuffled to several people who had different ways of doing things. I somehow figured things out. I was hired on a 3 year contract, which is up August, 2026, thankfully.
