📝 AITA for refusing to go back or talk to my friends after one of them laughed at me

I am in my final year of college, and our group of friends are performing a dance routine. One of my close friends is a dancer, and the rest of my group — all girls and close friends — dance pretty well too.

I’ve never really danced before, not even the basics, but I still wanted to try and be part of it. I didn’t expect to nail it immediately, but I hoped my friends would be encouraging while I tried.

The moment I attempted the very first step, one of my best friends — who also knows all my insecurities — immediately laughed at me. Not in a playful or lighthearted way, but in a way that just crushed me. It felt like she found me ridiculous. I had gathered so much courage just to try, and it was gone in an instant.

Some of the others laughed too at first, but when they saw my face, they stopped and started being supportive. But that one friend didn’t. She didn’t stop, didn’t apologize, and didn’t seem to care how humiliated I felt.

I stayed a bit longer only for the sake of our dancer friend who had worked hard on the routine, but eventually I walked out because I just couldn’t take it anymore.

Since then, I haven’t gone back or spoken to any of them. They’ve tried talking to me but I didn’t answer them— especially because it came from someone I considered one of my closest friends, who knew how insecure I am about these things.

So… AITA for not wanting to go back or talk to them right now?
