First time poster... please forgive any mistakes. A week ago, someone I work with asked me to make a decision, this isn't the first time she's pushed and I made a decision. I'm not a manager, but I have tried to learn as much as I possibly can to be well informed and good at my job. The decision I made was not huge, I just went with an informed choice, however, when asked by this colleague, she was heavily pushing for me to decide on the affirmative, which is what I did. It turns out, some higher up's wanted a reason for the choice that was made, and my colleague was questioned, in a very non-threatening way with no consequences. The entire time the questions were asked, she defensively told our manager it was me and my choice and I should answer to it. I guess I felt a little 'thrown under the bus' and decided at that time I would be incredibly careful in future to not give my opinions to this person, as she felt a little untrustworthy to me. I quietly went about the huge amounts of work I had to do and was badgered non-stop by this person for the rest of the day. I told her numerous times I was busy and really wanted to get on and be on top of my work and she just went on and on at me. The next day, she asked me a question again, and I told her only the exact directive given to me from the high management, something very specific had to occur. She snapped at me that I was not listening and I snapped back that I already knew what she wanted I also told her I didn't actually care, and this is the answer. I know it wasn't great, and I'm guessing you'll mostly tell me I am the ah. That night, I apologise without excuse and told her I felt I should do better and her response was simply 'Yes, you should.' I think that response is very arrogant and also quite ignorant, but that might just be me being defensive? Open to any suggestions because currently I can either go back into work Monday, shut my mouth and try to get my job done. Possibly get a warning for snapping at this person. Or just leave... I really dislike the job and most of the people, but I wanted to see the project out which is a few more weeks. Ok, give it to me!
