📝 AITA for telling my (25f) boyfriend (25m) “keep joking and I’ll make you cry”

So last night, my (27F) boyfriend (28M) went out to his friend’s party. He invited me, but I decided not to go because I was working late and, honestly, he rarely ever comes to events hosted by my friends, whereas I almost always attend his.

Throughout the night, I was texting him here and there, nothing overbearing, just asking what time he’d be home, basic check-ins. He was taking forever to respond, which was frustrating. Eventually, he told me he’d be home around 3:30 AM. I ended up going to bed before that.

The next morning, he could tell I was off and apologized, sensing something was wrong. I explained that I was upset because I always make the effort to come see him after work, he rarely does the same for me, and on top of that, he wasn’t really responding to my texts last night.

I was trying to let it go, but then he made not one, not two, but three jokes about cheating—right in front of me. His roommate also chimed in with one, but I didn’t hear it (he told me and assumed I was made because of his friend’s jokes). At that point, I just snapped a little and said something like, “Keep joking and I’ll make you cry.”

I’ll admit that wasn’t the most mature or kind thing to say, and I feel bad about it now. But given the lack of communication, the imbalance in effort, and then joking about something as sensitive as cheating… it just pushed me over the edge.

So, AITA for saying I’d make him cry?
