AITA for telling my friend I won’t go to her medieval-themed wedding if I have to dress as a forest goblin?

Okay, before everyone jumps on me I love my friend (28F), we’ve been inseparable since high school. And yes, she’s always been a little eccentric. She used to wear elf ears to school “for the aesthetic” and signed her assignments as “Lady Elora.” I’ve always supported her vibe.

So now she’s getting married this fall and has planned a full-on medieval fantasy wedding. Not just flowing dresses and flower crowns we’re talking assigned roles for every guest.

Guess what I got assigned? A forest goblin. No joke. She sent me a full Pinterest board with a green pointy hat, fake ears, moss-colored puff pants, and a little leather pouch to “store trinkets.” She said I have “the right energy and height for goblin representation,” whatever that means.

I told her I’d rather wear a simple medieval-style dress instead — still on theme, just… not goblin-core. She said this wedding is “more than a wedding, it’s an immersive narrative experience” and that I’m letting her down by not committing to the lore.

Now a few mutual friends are calling me a killjoy and saying it’s just one day, and I should be a team player. I offered to help decorate or even assist with the feast, but I’m standing firm: I am not showing up as a ceremonial goblin in a felt hat.

AITA for refusing to take part in my friend’s enchanted forest wedding roleplay?
