AITA for wanting my friend to change her outfit for a cultural heritage fashion walk?
My (22F) friend (20F) and I have been friends for about 10 years. Recently, we argued about participating in a cultural heritage fashion walk. I wanted to back out because I wasn’t comfortable being recorded and posted online, but she insisted I stay for her sake since it would affect her reputation with a specific club.
We ended up agreeing to participate. However, when it came to discussing outfits, she wanted to wear Crocs, which I felt were inappropriate for the event. I suggested she wear something else, but after a long discussion, she agreed to wear white sandals.
The next day, I received a long text from her accusing me of being manipulative and giving her an ultimatum about the Crocs. She felt I was being rude and manipulative, and I told her she also pushed me to participate because she was scared for her reputation at this club. We ended up arguing and not speaking for a week. When we finally talked, she brought up past issues where she felt I pushed her boundaries and didn’t listen to her, eventhough i apologized (and she accepted) at the time of said situations. After that convo she said she didn't want to be friends anymore.
AITA for wanting her to change her outfit for the event, or did I overstep?
