So I’m a 27 year old female and i started to see a guy who was in the same friend group in high school (also 27yo). We had reconnected when he came into the restaurant i work at to eat. He lives in a big city and things were going well so I decided to go visit him.. When I arrived, He was different versus when he was in town visiting. He was … awkward? He didn’t seem to be excited that I had traveled halfway across the country to see him! Also, his apartment smelled like rotting meat. His sheets and towels were dirty. I was horrified. Then about 30 minutes after I got there, Tragedy struck: I realized I had left my purse in the uber coming from the airport. I started to panic. I called Uber Support and at about 4am, I got a call back that they had found my purse and would return it to me later that day. I woke him up to tell him I had found my purse- I mean this “man” absolutely freaked out on me. He was yelling about how he had to work in the morning and he couldn’t believe i had woken him up to tell him that. It was in that moment that I knew I had made a mistake. Wtf do I do? I’m 1500 miles away from home. So he left in the morning for work, I said “you look nice!” he said “i know.” and walked out the door. So I started to plan my escape. I had lived close by a few years before and started to call friends from years ago. One of my friends said they would meet me at the nearest train station, thank God! I wanted to leave immediately but I had to wait for the uber driver to return my purse. I called the uber driver and he couldn’t meet me until 3 that afternoon. I had no purse- no wallet- I felt completely trapped in this horrible apartment with this horrible odor. I had left for awhile and went to starbucks (paid w the app) and sat on a bench in the city and cried. I’ve known this guy for YEARS. I was SO excited about this. What was this sudden shift? WHY did you ask me to come visit you? If you didn’t want me there, why put someone through that? I tried to get back into the apartment and the buzzer didn’t work. I had to wait for 30 minutes and someone walking in finally let me in. So I sat there from 9 am- 3:30 pm absolutely devastated. This guy was such a jerk. I felt like my time was totally wasted. Eventually the uber driver showed up and gave me back my purse (with 200 in cash missing 🙃), I bought a train ticket to meet my friend and I completely ghosted him. I blocked him on everything. I’ve never spoke to him ever again. I ended up having a decent time after I met up with my friends but I ended up pretty traumatized. I haven’t wanted to date anyone since. AITAH??? 😭
