Here is my original post. As an update, and only two weeks left on the lease, I have determined I just cannot do it anymore. Now the big dilemma is he has nowhere at all to go. We live in a state 9 hours from our home state. I will be returning there. He has an ok relationship with his mom and family, they are rebuilding. She is actually sort of well off, but I know he would not ask her for help because of his pride and not wanting to be talked about by the entire family.

AITAH for wanting to contact her? Not to be messy, but to let her know I will be leaving the state and he will have nowhere to go, so I'm sure support is needed. I don't want to tell her all the details, he can do that, but just so he can have a helping hand. The $1500 I gave him is mostly gone on sports betting, food, hotels, alcohol, etc.

The other option he gave me is to help him and sign a short lease for 6 months, but I am not a fan of that idea, as again, it's me doing everything on my own. Please help, I'm feeling torn in all directions!
