This happened when my boyfriend and his ex wife had been separated for a year or so and were taking turns living at their shared home every other week. They are now divorced and the ex wife is still pissed about what I did. There was a large wedding picture of my boyfriend and his ex at the entrance to their bedroom and I was so in love with my boyfriend that it bothered me seeing it there so I asked if he could take it down - this was during his week at their house because I was there all the time. He took it down and put it in the closet. One day when I was at work, his ex decides to come home without telling my boyfriend and she went ballistic when she saw the picture was down. She laid into him, told him she’d never forgive him and then took down all pictures of them in the entire house and told him to throw them away. Going on two years later, she’s civil to my boyfriend (they talk about their adult children) but she doesn’t want me going to any family events at what is now her house and is passively aggressive through the adult kids whenever possible. I think she wants an apology but I don’t think I did anything wrong. Am I the asshole?
