📝 AITAH for asking my friend to back off from the car in front of us?

I usually don't ride in my friend's car, but today I did, and they were driving SO closely to the car in front of us. We were going 60+ miles per hour, and there were only about 1.5 car lengths between us. I asked them to back off a bit because I felt uncomfortable, and they got mad at me.

On the way home, it got worse. When I brought it up again, we had a huge argument. They kept saying they’ve never been in a crash and that this is how they always drive, so it’s not a problem. They yelled at me for “backseat driving.” When I explained why it scared me, they dismissed my concerns. They accused me of always nagging them about their driving, like not stopping at stop signs, not using their turn signal, or using their phone while driving.

I told them that when I'm in the car with them, I want to feel comfortable and safe. I don't think it's too much to ask for them to keep a safer distance while driving (or to stop at stop signs, use their turn signal, and put their phone down). They didn't seem to understand my point, and we ended our conversation on bad terms. AITA?
