Am i (f18) the asshole for hanging out at the mall with a group of my close friends without one of my “lunchbox” friends. For context, i have a difficult time gauging the closeness of the relationships i have around me, and i have trouble opening up. Earlier this year, i made a new friend anika (f18). She and i havent hung out outside of class together, unless it was in a large group setting. She never texts me, calls me, or expresses much interest in knowing me outside of school. She hardly asks me questions about myself, and conversations stay pretty casual. Shes a great person, and I have nothing against her. However, recently she revealed to me that she is sexually and romantically involved with a 43 year old MAN, when she only 18. I explained that i support her as a person, but am extremely worried, scared, and concerned for her. She talks about him like she wants to get married and brings him up often. After a conversation my other friend and i had, we decided to distance ourselves from her as she began to exhibit weird behavior we did not want to be around. Then forward to the present, we went to the mall yesterday without her. Plans were last minute, not planned, and spontaneous. She is extremely angry she was not invited, yet does not communicate this to us when I asked her if she was okay. Am i the asshole for not inviting her?
