I've recently moved into a new flat. The new landlady lives in the same building as me. The lease agreement says that multiple day visits should be approved in writing. I had a friend over for an hour on a Sunday, a friend stayed overnight on Wednesday and Saturday because we had some events planned weeks in advance. I didn't seek the written approval mentioned for these, because the wording "multiple day visits" to me means at least 3 days, or 2 nights in a row.
When I was escorting my friend out after her Saturday visit the landlady was out in the front porch doing some gardening stuff, so I went there to talk to her about how I was settling in, and to ask some questions. But she started scolding me, telling me about each time I had someone over (I don't know how she had a detailed list, she met my friend then and there for the first time), and how this is not a hostel, she and her husband won't tolerate this, and the rent is so low because I don't have additional tenants with me (the rent is a standard rate for this size of apartment and this part of town), and told me that I was in breach of contract. All the while I had my friend right behind me, being talked about in the third person.
I know even if I was in breach of contract this tone is not warranted, but did I do something wrong?
