So I(23f) moved in with my bf (29m) two months ago. He moved in from another city 6 weeks after starting this relationship and we thought it was perfect for us to move in together, as i was supposed to leave college dorm in july of this year. My mom( 44f) knew about me moving in with him and we were supposed to tell my dad about it at easter. My mom even met my bf in february but she wasnt impressed or curious about him at all. My bf was born with some sort of disability and he never had control of his right arm (that might be somewhat relevant, i guess) but he s fully functional other wise and this is the healthiest relationship i ve ever had. On easter, my parents came over for the family dinner. I spent 2 full night cleaning around and cooking for this. However, once they got here, you could tell they didnt like something. My dad was mostly outside smoking and my mom was as indiferent as she was the first time. At some point my mom said something about her wanting to be asked about certain things before them happening - us asking for permission morelike. And i joked about that so she stormed out, going to the car to leave. I followed my parents to say goodbye and as my dad was about to get in the car, he started saying stuff about my boyfriend, that he doesnt like him and this relationship shouldnt last, cause im a fully functioning woman and i deserve better, and not to call him till my degree is done(july). After they left, i went upstairs and cried, my boyfriend got mad at them and i havent talked to them ever since - they didnt call and neither did i. Now am i the asshole for finally having a healthy relationship? For finally being happy after a few years of misery?
