My SO and I just moved to a new home in the country and we have two cats. Unfortunately our one cat is quite anxious and the change in location resulted in many months of him randomly peeing in spots all over the house. The vet confirmed it wasn't medical but just a result of the new environment. Thankfully after many frustrating months of cleaning, he seems to have settled down and is now comfortable. Now this past weekend, we had friends, a married couple, planning on visiting as they pass through town who happen to have a lap dog that they like to bring everywhere. There was talks of them staying the night and it dawned on my SO and I that a dog in the house could cause our cat to potentially regress back into peeing everywhere so we mentioned our concerns to these friends that it wouldn't work for them to bring their dog inside the house. Well they came with the dog anyway and kept it outside during the day but when it started getting closer to bedtime, the topic of then spending the night came up. Now these are the type of dog owners that need to have their dog sleep in bed with them but when we reiterated that we would prefer to not have the dog in the house they became quite irritated and said they would just drive home even though they had a few hours to drive and wouldn't get home until midnight. We offered to set up a comfy bed for the dog in the heated garage so they could spend the night and not drive but they said that wouldn't work. The following day, the husband told my SO how irritated he was that we didn't accommodate his dog and allow them to bring it in the house. So AITAH?
