So I spent the night at a buddies house who works at the same place as me and he heads into work before I leave. I go into the store because I’m a new employee and I get a huge discount on my first purchase and it was about to expire so I went to go buy myself better clothes for the job and something for my dad’s birthday. So I go into and obviously me and my buddy and the manager all see each other, well my buddy was putting in an order for popeyes for everyone on his phone. So me, him, and the manager are talking and he jokes asking me to go get the food and I joke saying “am I on the clock” (tbh looking back that seemed like a funky thing to say but hindsight is 20/20) to which we all laugh and I then go about my shopping. Well a few minutes later the manager sees me and asks “you haven’t left?” And I said no cause I thought they were joking. None of us there get mad at each other but my buddy did seem kind of confused why I was still there also. Fast forward after I did all my shopping and I’m telling my mom and she gets mad at me saying she’s disappointed that I didn’t go get the food. AITAH?

Edit: I should’ve added this but I would’ve for sure gotten the food if my buddy had asked before I was there but I was literally fresh out of my car and in the store for 5 minutes before they asked
