I posted a lot of brand name and designer clothing for very cheap on Facebook marketplace - $155 for over 30 items that include multiple Lululemon, Alo, Adidas, Nike, and various other brands. I also offered to add in 5 pairs of shoes (3 pairs of Nikes, 1 pair of adidas, and Vans) for $175.
Someone reached out with the below messages: "Ohh wow the money is the issue My daughters are in need of clothes we are struggling and no income so any help is greatly appreciated Can you pls do less? We are almost homeless No income nothing We lost everything 150 for me now is too much and we need the clothes and shoes badly"
I am VERY open to helping people - I volunteer, I donate our clothing and home items. But we are 30 days out from a wedding we have fully funded ourselves and l'd really like to make a bit of money back on my nice clothing that I'm already in my mind selling for a huge deal.
She did (after me not answering for about an hour) offer me "150? For all" which I'm probably going to say yes to. But the whole situation is really bothering me.
Am I the asshole for not being more "giving?" I'm having a bit of a moral issue where of course I empathize for this person, but also don't feel like I should be obligated to give my things away.
Please wait...
