So, I (19F) started working online a few months ago. I didn’t really plan it out, it just kinda happened. I needed a way to make money fast, and a friend of mine joked about how much some girls were making online, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

It actually went way better than I expected. I ended up making a lot, enough to help with groceries at home, buy some stuff I needed, and even save a little. I never told my parents exactly what I did though, I just said I had a remote job. Everything seemed fine for a while.

That was until my mom (43F) somehow found out. One of her coworkers showed her something and next thing I know, she storms into my room crying, holding up her phone. She asked me straight up if it was me, and I couldn’t really lie, so I said yes.

She freaked out, said she was embarrassed, disappointed, all that. When my dad (46M) got home, he wasn’t yelling like her, but he did ask a ton of questions - mostly about how much money I was making, which was honestly awkward.

The next day, my mom told me I either had to quit or move out. I stood my ground and said I wasn't quitting. My dad kind of stayed out of it but said if I helped out with bills, he didn’t see the problem. That made my mom even angrier and she ended up leaving to stay with her sister for a while.

Now I’ve moved into my own place. My siblings still text me sometimes but my mom’s keeping her distance. I know she’s mad, but I don’t really think I did anything wrong. I’m just trying to build a future for myself.
