I’m going to make this as short as possible because going into detail would be a lot. I am a server and we recently got a new hire. He he’s a really cute guy and we only have one other male server on the team. I’m not trying to toot my own horn. However, every job I work at, I get hit on by most of if not all the guys unless they are in a relationship. I noticed that the new hire was constantly staring at me and gravitating towards me, but I wasn’t entertaining it because I just got a gut feeling about him. I wasn’t paying him much attention, but all the girls flocked to him like sheep. Particularly my coworker/friend. She was all over him and it was so obvious that she was into him. Now I’m not trying to be mean when I say this, but she’s not what most will consider conventionally attractive. I’ll just leave it at that because I wouldn’t want to give a description that resonates with anyone reading this and hurt anyone especially because I believe that everyone is beautiful in their own way but society feels differently.

Even though I’m always getting hit on and told how pretty I am, I’m very insecure and we have a lot of cute girls on our staff so I felt like I was the last person that he would look at. However, the first time we actually talked to each other, he immediately invited me out to church and followed me around the whole day trying to strike up conversation and would constantly stare at me. Meanwhile, my friend/coworker continued to talk and joke with him until he finally talked and joked back and entertained her. That may have been a mistake on his part because she ran with it and began telling everyone about how he liked her. I decided to take him up on his offer to go to church with him after he kept inviting me to his church because they have a youth group and I have been wanting to go to a church with the youth group. He told me to sit next to him during service and we sat together the whole time. Once service ended, a gorgeous blonde chick comes around and he introduces her as his girlfriend… weird because he never once mention anything about him having a girlfriend. It didn’t bother me.’ cause I wasn’t interested due to the gut feeling I had about him, but I was a bit surprised.

She said “oh wow, you’re very pretty, I bet he told you to get all cute and dress up didn’t he?”. I felt so awkward and just wanted to walk out out of embarrassment. Long story short I avoided him like the plague at work, but he kept following me around. He did all my side work of it. I told him that he would get in trouble and he said “I guess I’ll just get in trouble then” I rolled my eyes and he went out of his way to tell me that his girlfriend was moving two hours away. Like what is up with this dude? Meanwhile, my friend/coworker was all googly eyed about him and convinced that he was in love with her. I fed into her delusions. At this point, everyone on staff noticed his actions toward me and we’re convinced that he had a thing for me. Unfortunately all of that came out when we decided to get drunk. One of my coworkers said that he didn’t trust the new hire because he was actively pursuing me despite having a girlfriend and brought up the fact that earlier, the new hire came in with his girlfriend and requested that I’d be their server. My friend’s face sunk. I felt horrible because I was feeding in her delusions and hyping them up because I didn’t wanna hurt her feelings.

I’ve been down this road before and I just know that she’s gonna hate me and it sucks because she’s so fun and I’m so over the drama when it comes to these types of things. I don’t even know if he actually likes me or is just being friendly but I feel like a jerk because I fed into her delusions and didn’t tell her about everything else and now she found out through another coworker. I’ve been on the other side of this before and it genuinely does hurt, but I’ve never hated the other girl for it. However, I have been in this same situation before and the girl got jealous and competitive, and eventually went behind my back with the guy that I was with, and it was a huge betrayal because she was one of my best friends.
