So my dad has been married to- let's call her Lisa- for maybe 15 years. Lisa has always done some pretty questionable shit regarding her and my dad's money. To be clear, they really didn't have any but my grandma was very generous to them and she always took advantage of that. I'm pretty sure she always had her eyes on my dad's potential inheritance. It would have been maybe $250,000 but to Lisa, that's more money than she's ever had in her life. This is relevant to what I'm about to say.

5 years ago, my dad got sick. Coincidentally, this is when my grandma was clearly close to death. Lisa lied to me and my family about just how sick my dad was and actively kept him from getting medical care. It turned out that he had WKS which is time sensitive...without thiamine treatments it causes permanent brain damage. Now, I truly believe she didn't get him help because she thought hey, his mom is about to die and leave him that money but if he dies, she will get all of it.

Well, due to the brain damage, my dad has been in a long term care facility since then (I had to call a private ambulance myself to save his life). In the last 5 years, Lisa has visited him maybe 10 times. She also took out credit cards in his name and stole his social security checks, nearly getting him kicked out of the nursing home because that was how it was paid for. I hate this woman. I truly hate her. I fully blame her for what happened to my dad and she has shown time and time again that she doesn't give a shit about him.

He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in February. He's not a candidate for chemo or surgery. So he doesn't have long. My dad's sisters are upset with me because I will not call Lisa to tell her this. They said I have a "moral obligation" to tell her. Am I the asshole for refusing? Mind you, they can just as easily tell her if they choose. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills cause even after all Lisa has done, his sisters act like she's done no wrong. But am I the asshole?
