So my wife and I have been having a bit of a argument over the last couple weeks due to this incident and I feel like i'm going crazy trying to deal with it in a reasonable way.

Backstory: Due to some food getting stuck up under the seats we seemed to have gotten some sort of infestation of a bug called a Carpet Beetle, because of this my wife is now concerned they have eaten through the seat belts and that if we get in an accident that our son will die.

The first day this happened I went out and vacuumed and steam cleaned the whole car, and laid down diatramatous earth.

They weren't seen for a couple days and surely enough they came back.

I offered to get it professionally detailed, bomb it, and have a local dealer re-install brand new seatbelts in the back for her peace of mind and she still wants to trade this car in.

We are less than a year from having this thing paid off and with us having a one income household (myself, she is a SAHM) — i'm really trying to better ourselves financially.

This has been a massive fight the last 3 weeks and I need to know if i'm being unreasonable or what.
