📝 AITAH for playing games without my friends?

My two friends and my girlfriend and I play PC together, usually whatever sounds fun or whatever is new and trending at the moment. When Lethal Company came out it was that, now it’s Schedule 1 and R.E.P.O.

We have different schedules, my girlfriend and I are free every day after work. We’re usually both on and playing by 4pm and usually play until we go to sleep. My friends on the other hand can only play one day a week, and only for a few hours.

Usually how we’ll do it is in a game that requires commitment, such as crafting survival games where you create your own world, my girlfriend and I will create our own game to play on our own time and then we’ll have a separate game to play with my friends.

I had an argument with my friends the other day, where they stated that they didn’t like that my girlfriend and I play the game without them, as by time they’re able to play again we’ve already got a weeks worth of experience in the game and we aren’t all experiencing everything for the first time together. So they asked me and my girlfriend to not play any new games without them anymore so that we could all experience them together.

I argued that this isn’t fair. For me and my girlfriend to spend money on a game and then not be allowed to play it when my friends aren’t around seems really childish. It’s like if you bought a new car, but were only allowed to have the keys once a week for two hours, despite the fact that you paid for it and it’s yours. It’s not even like my girlfriend and I are progressing without them, we’re in our own separate game.

I understand the argument of “just play another game” but when you get a new game, that’s the one you want to play. It’s my belief that her and I shouldn’t have to wait once a week to play the game when we have the availability to play it as much as we want. And as a result, my friends don’t want to play with her and I anymore. I feel bad because I value their friendship, but at the same time I don’t like them trying to tell me how to use what is essentially my property, as I paid for it and can play it whenever I like. Does this make me the asshole?
