I (16F) am currently dating my bf (17M) I knew him in middle school but he moved away, we reconnected by friends and he admitted that he had always liked me in middle school but he never had the guts to tell me. We became official on February 3 of this years, we’ve been dating for almost 3 months. He lives down south, I live in the east coast so very far away. He recently enlisted in the army and is going to boot camp in July, he told me before that that he wants to visit me before going to bootcamp. I told that would be nice so we could spend some weeks together before he goes. one a phone call he brings up having sex.

Sex is very important to me especially since I grew up catholic and it should be important to him too because he’s an orthodox Christian. I told him that if we ever do last long and we eventually do get married that it would be nice to wait until marriage. He let out an annoyed sigh “Yea I guess, that would be romantic” he says

I told him if he was upset because I wanna wait until marriage or more but he said, just disappointed because he might not see me while he’s doing his army thingy. I told him that I felt pressured into losing my virginity but he tells me not to worry about and that I should take my time. I told this to one of my friend and she said “Might as well give it up to him because it might be a long time since he’ll see you” it made me overthink a lot

I feel so mean and an asshole for turning down his idea to lose our virginities to each other before he leaves for bootcamp 🙁 can anyone give me advice how to deal with this guilt

EDIT!!: I forgot to mention but in the exact phone call, I asked him if he was embarrassed of going to bootcamp as a virgin, he stayed silent then after a few seconds he just laughed and said no, I teased him about it and how it’s okay to be a virgin but he kept denying it so I left it alone and we changed the topic

But thank you for your advices and experiences, it really opened my eyes 🩷
