been watching these reddit stories on youtube for a while. god forbid if i see this on there too, lol. also, english is my second language so excuse any mistakes. shoutout to the hours i worked my ass off for english exams, tho. they bring me here loll.
okay, so.
for background i (18NB) am second of 3 siblings (all afab, if important). amy (27/28F) and riley (14F) (fake names) are my sisters and despite the age gaps, we all get along fine. we all live with dad (economy, also amy has some issues of her own). i think our dad (59/60M) is the best thing happened to us. he and mom (50F) got together when mom was 21 and dad was 31 (arranged marriage. kind of, they knew each other and just got married). mom was always a SAHM since amy was little. she graduated college with dad's help. but she never worked. (something my paternal grandfather wanted. fuck his corpse tbh)
according to the talks i had with amy over the years (riley is like our daughter even if i'm only older by four years - so she didn't know the things i knew at her age), mom never loved dad. i don't even know why they got married in the first place. maybe my grandparents wanted grandchildren (dad is sixth child of my grandfather from second marriage and first male to be born. he has/had five older sisters and mom was the first child of both my maternal grandparents' second marriages) so desperately idk. either way, they were never happy.
mom was always... i don't know, childish? distant? protected her space? either way, neither amy nor i had the same affection riley got from mom. we don't resent her tho. mom would sometimes help with homework, do some meals and take riley & i out yet she gave up that after my primary school years (+2016). she was more willing to go out, to courses, to her friend's houses more than staying home (for y'all to know, dad never once held her back. money was tight, yet he did everything in his power to make mom happy). riley and i had some friends from the apartment, so we just would play with them all day or use computer for hours. amy was newly graduated from highschool back then. she steered working after our paternal grandma passed away and to help dad with bills since mom wasn't working.
she was busy losing weight and going out at nights lol 💀
in 2021, mom decided to divorce dad. she and amy had so many problems, she was having hard time with dad and just divorced him. and got RESTRAINING ORDER, I AM NOT JOKING. remind you, these two were married for +20 years and not once dad hurt mom. not once. one day, she was just gone to a place she rented. after my maternal grandpa passed away last year, then she moved in with grandma and uncle.
and now, in 2025 april, i have a job. i work full time (haven't got to college yet but i want to. we don't pay anything in like the usa, we just get to an exam for college) and riley attends highschool & amy is between jobs & dad works full time. mom works as well, living with my uncle (early 40s-M) and grandma (early 70s-F). she is a cashier like me, so we much earn the same yet i pay for my dad's house's rent and some bills, so i don't save much. and she does whatever she wants. amy wants me to mom ask for money often and it pisses me off so much, not gonna lie. but mom sometimes complains, saying i and amy are using her for money. amy says she manipulates me into thinking that we are in wrong yet... i don't know.
so, aita?
feel free to ask anything. i'll be at work today lol, so responds might be late, thank you.
