It’s not for political reasons at all. It’s affordable (base model 3 not the cybertruck), and I want full self driving. I have a visual impairment of sorts (basically pain in my eyes while driving due to corneal neuralgia - I have perfect vision I just have fucked up nerves) and I test drove a family member’s Tesla last year, with full self drive. It was a game changer for me. Especially during rainy nights (and where I live in rains A-LOT all year round).
Alternatively if there’s something equal in terms of price, technology and also EV I’d consider it in a heartbeat but I haven’t found that?
:(
Edit- I don’t want to get into my disability. However, I’m perfectly capable / cleared to drive. That wasn’t the point of my post. But I’ll add some more context if it helps.
I’m in Canada, full self drive is not legal here so it’s not truly a full self drive but I think it’s still marketed as that when you’re purchasing online (like the outright version vs subscription service).
I would be using it as an assist and a backup safety measure — basically I’m still driving the car / alert / hands on wheel etc. I really liked it for my use case.
I just feel hesitant given the vandalism and political turmoil hence why I feel like an asshole.
Sorry for the confusion
