I (41F) recently got offered a work opportunity to be in an event I’ve been trying to for a few years now. My partner (39F)’s brother’s wedding just happens to be on the same day, and I had already agreed to go.

This work opportunity will advance my career as far as networking and is an event I’ve been trying to be invited to for a few years. It happens yearly, though I don’t know if they’ll extend the invite again next year.

I would really like to go. My partner is upset since I committed to the wedding but keep talking about this opportunity. She says she feels like I’ll be resentful towards her if I go to the wedding. She and I are not married but the relationship is serious.

I don’t want to pass this opportunity by though and am thinking of telling her I’ll be choosing it over the wedding. AITAH?
