My (f23) boyfriend (m21) is addicted to sports betting since Sept of last year, though he says he isn't. He places bets every single day when it's the season, and he loses all of his money every time. There were a few decent wins but he lost it all over again in the same day placing more crazy bets. He's currently living at home and working a min wage job part time due to school and basically is well broke before his next check even hits. He hasn't payed for a date in months, and always owes me money. He does pay it back however I'm getting really extremely frustrated that he never had any money to do something nice with me, I'm always giving in and treating him to stuff because I get sad that he's broke. He's also on his phone constantly, watching the games and not paying attention to what I'm saying. He gets upset when he loses and all of that really makes our relationship feel very off.

The other day he jokingly said he lost his bet because I don't believe in him and it messes up his luck or whatever. I told him I do believe in HIM, but not in something that is pure luck and has nothing to do with his personal abilities or skill whatsoever. I slowly started mentioning more about my frustration, how he doesn't understand the value of money, asking him why doesn't he save at least a little money over time. He says he makes so little that saving a few hundred bucks would be pointless so why not try to make it into more. That made zero sense to me but I couldn't think of something to say back to that tbh, it makes sense but it also doesn't AT all?? I lashed out at him and called him a moron, for not caring about me enough to be able to save and take me out for dinner some time. I haven't spoken to him, I feel bad because I don't want him to think that I'm pocket watching but I don't know. Just seeing how he functions and thinks is very frustrating, but it is his money and not supposed to be any of my business lol. Did I overreact?
