I (39F) and husband (44M) been together 17 years with 4 kids.

My big 40 birthday is coming up and I am planning a quick trip out of town to attend a radio show and then dancing. Country music, dancing, and drinking will all be involved.

Unfortunately, Husband doesn't like any of it. He doesn't want me to without because he has past trust issues and trauma from his mom's drinking. Early on I gave a reason to break our trust but since have rebuilt it but he is still concerned.

He doesn't want me dancing with anyone while out of town for fear of taking it to far while drinking. I respect his fears but feel the need to let my hair down for my birthday. My 21st I was in Iraq and my 30th I was pregnant. AITHA for not wanting him there?
