My sister and I were sending each other things on Insta on Thursday night around 10pm. She asked if I could call her the following day, I said I might be out with friends but if i'm not, then sure. She asked if I could call her right then and there, I asked her if everything was okay, with her dodging the question and just carrying on with something else. I ended up being busy with friends, and the next day got sick, which I am actually still dealing with 5 days later (intense sinus infection with chest/respiratory issues).

She messaged me tonight to say "Thanks for the call". I messaged her back saying I simply forgot, and explained that I was busy and also got sick, and just simply forgot to call her. We also don't speak on the phone very often. Once I sent my reply saying I apologize for forgetting, she sent me a very direct response saying "Well I have cervical cancer Rachel and didn't know I needed to schedule an appointment with you to speak with you." She continued with multiple messages of the information doctors have found/her appointments etc.

I responded back saying I wish she had called me, or answered me when I asked if everything was alright and continued to say I was of course heartbroken at the news and I would always be there for her.

It simply ended with my saying I love you and she said I love you back.

Of course I'm absolutely heart broken of this news, but AITA for not calling?
