My husband is starting to try and teach our 9 month how to swim. I think this is great but have such high anxiety when I hear him choke after being dunked in the water. I usually try and avoid being present for their time in the pool because it scares me so much. My husband laughs and thinks it's not a big deal. Today is Saturday and we're all going to the pool together because it's a nice day. He started to put in under water and the first several times my son did fine and didn't come up coughing.. I was still anxious but decided to keep it to myself and sit on the stairs and watch. Then he came up coughing and spitting up water. I panicked and asked to hold him immediately so I could comfort him. My husband laughed, repeatedly said he's fine and downplayed the situation. I asked again to hold him and my husband, with a big smile on his face, started backing up and said if you want him come get him to while backing up into deeper water. I panicked and as a last resort said that either give him to me or I'm leaving. He said no, so I got up and walked home. Am I the asshole for leaving?
