Am I the asshole for being cold to him? I (16F) He (17M) we been friends over an year now. We know each other since I was 15 and he was 16. I will call him Edward. Edward is really awkward and shy person but when you get to know him he can be really annoying to be honest, he is a basic teenage boy. He is also problematic and full of red flags when you dip in. He also so obsessed, its unhealthy obsession for a friend(that friend is me💀). When we first met we got along because of same interests, we didnt use to chat that often but as we talked about the topics we both found interesting we got close. At first it was a usual friendship between a boy and a girl. We spent whole day chitchatting after school, unfortunately i started having crush on him. I also knew he had one because it was really obvious. I wanted to confess but decided that i have to make sure he likes me too before i do, so i tested him. Whenever i made jokes like “you like me or what?”, or something like that, he always got so offended but it was obvious that he got shy and didnt want to give in, it really did annoy me tho. I dont like these type of people and mixed feelings. So after some trying i decided not to share and just get over it because it was annoying me and i started losing feelings after a while. After some time his feelings got worse like his whole life depends on me, MIND YOU, we are only friends. He got mad at me when i didnt text him goodnight or goodmorning, he got mad when i didnt call him. He also got sad when i couldnt text him (busy, just want time to myself etc..) and it started bothering me to the point where i told it to him so many times. We talked about this topic many times he said he will change blah blah. He never did and his obsession got worse. He is now calling me pet names and it honestly makes me disgusted because at this point I DONT LIKE HIM AT ALL. Even as a friend i find him boring tbh, he always says the same bullshit (wyd, hru, what will u do, i missed you, i love you, 🥺, do u hate me) AND ITS really annoying, trust me. Recently we talked about this topic again and he got sad telling me how much he cares but i know its not about caring, its the obsession because i dont give him that old me. He is extremely clingy, gets annoyed and mad when i talk to even MY FUCKING BROTHER. I just want to punch him this point. AITAH?
