📝 Feeling a little crazy here over a dog leash

Context: we used to have a dog sitting business and a ton of dogs in our family home. Over the years most of those supplies have migrated to other homes. AITAH here for restocking the spare leashes? We still have a lot of dog related activities, even though we aren't a business anymore.

She I apologize you had to take care of bubba and Annie. She said she was going to text me when she was on her way but she never did. Or maybe she did but she said she's been having some trouble with her phone so I never got the message.

Me No worries. On a related note, I just picked up some spare dog leashes.. if you want to use the money from the last time I watched them to pay for it, I'm good with that

She There's been two in the truck and two in the basket. Why do we need more spares? There's also one still sitting on the kitchen counter.

She Could we maybe discuss your habit of just buying more things when it is possible to go around and find the old ones first? I'm not trying to sound critical but it's just more stuff to lose or keep track of.

Me Just the cheap ones for strays, same kind we used to have from your kennel days. I'm well aware of the count of them.

She There's a bunch of those in the basket and also in the truck. And I can get them for a dollar at Dollar tree. Well actually it's $1.25 now but I'm not understanding why we need more?

Me And no, I'm not going to be corrected on restocking when things are low.

She I didn't say corrected. I asked for an explanation. Need and since I'm the one usually doing all of the stray pickups anyway, why are you being the one to solely define the word low?

Me Some things are worth having duplicates enough

She I don't disagree with that. The issue is we already have a bunch of them so why do we need more? What is your definition of low?I'm not trying to be rude but sometimes it's not low. Sometimes things just aren't put away and or you can't find them. That does not mean we are out.

Me This is about the eighth time that I have tried looking in the house for a disposable one that I could send home with Leslie and they weren't when any of the places that they are supposed to be?

She That's because strays aren't usually around the house. Most of the disposable ones are in the truck. That just means there are some that need to be relocated.

Me [I send a bunch of pictures right here showing the places that dog leashes should be but aren't, including the official storage place]

Me I'm not sure why how I spend my money turned into this conversation?

She None of those places are where they are kept. OP. Now you can add the issue of not paying attention. There is a big brown basket to the right of the dryer that holds everything dog in it. I do keep bubba's in the white container by the door in order to keep it separate from ours. Those are not places where regular dog things are kept.

Me That was the third picture

Me Like I said, behavior is completely reasonable here. And even if it wasn't, this is still my funds right? I'm just restocking household needs because I don't think our current levels are sufficient

She Again, most of the spare leashes are kept in the truck because that is where we usually find most of the spare dogs. While we are driving around. If you had asked me before purchasing I could have told you it's fine and I'll just pull some out of the truck and leave a couple more in the house.

Me By my account the number in the truck is low as well, I noticed that when I took Ruby out for a walk

She And I'm not understanding why you're saying I can take the money out of the sitting money for you from watching them. How much did you spend on them? I haven't forgotten about that money. I just haven't transferred it yet because I've been busy.

Me Like 25-30 bucks, I got a for under a dollar a piece

She Do whatever you want with your money then. Sorry for trying to save you some of it. Why the heck do you think we need 30 of them? The issue isn't how you spend your money except that sometimes we could save it. The issue is the overcompensating. We only need two or three in the truck and two or three in the house. Why do we need 30? I probably rescued 30 dogs total in the 20 years we've been married. That's going a little overboard.

Me For the exact same reason that I have a ton of nail clippers, I want to be able to throw away garbage when it is time.

She You mean the ones that are still getting left all over the house and stepped on? What's the point of buying them? Just end up throwing them away?

Me Please don't criticize how I spend my money, it's hard enough for me to not do the same with you in general and anytime something like this comes up and you're doing the same thing to me. It really makes it hard for me to not say some a****** thing in response.

She Fine. You do you.

Me Thanks, you as well! 😁
