I was on the phone with my grandparents venting about something really important. They knew the person who I was complaining about and I wanted them to hear my side of the story because I know that person has a habbit of lying and or twisting things around. I called my grandma and I had no idea I might have been on speaker phone until after I heard my grandfather in the background saying "Can I say something to her?" Then my grandma handed him the phone and he said "You have a baby to take care of. You have been on the phone with us for an hour and we have a doctor appointment at 12. Now go take whatever tranquilizers or whatever you take."
When he spoke about my toddler I said "I see him. He is right in front of me." (I was watching my toddler while I was on the phone call. He was right in front of me.) And I am not on any medication. And I had no idea that my grandparents had a doctor appointment that day. If they told me that sooner I would have either ended the conversation sooner or waited to call them at a different time.
After he handed the phone back to my grandma she said "Oh geeze." Then I said "I am not on any tranquilizers." And she said "No but I am." Then I said "I did not know you had a doctors appointment. I gotta go (as in I have to hang up the phone). I don't want you to miss your appointment." Then she said "I guess I'm not going now..." in a sad tone.
Now that I look back at it I am starting to wonder if my grandfather lied about them having an appointment just so he can use it as an excuse to get me to shut up. Usually if my grandma is busy she tells me to call her back later. But the way my grandma said "I guess I am not going now" made me wonder if she really did have an appointment. Its not like her to miss her appointments though ...
