Here’s the scoop. Going on a vacation with a decently large group (12-15 people in total). One individual, male and 42 y/o who has a history of being immature as anything adult related goes, decided to reach out to me, I knew where it was going, and didn’t want to hear a long drawn out poor pity me I can’t make responsible adult decisions story again, told him to give me the short of it. He said, if he could be replaced we should do that, I said okay I’ll find someone else, hung up and moved on to enjoying an evening with my family. A couple days passed, and he reached out, said he wanted to go, but would also take a refund. Which was never discussed. He has a $230 payment already for the event paid for. Normally in short notice circumstances, you are shit out of luck. But this guy is persistent. Believes he’s entitled to a refund regardless of is replacement on short notice now has to pay more for travel and hotel expenses. I would like to also note that, he asked me to borrow money and I quote, will pay me back, but only if the event (a sports tournament) goes well. “I’ll pay you back when I win” is the exact quote, he hasn’t won anything to date. I don’t loan money to people who are already irresponsible not to mention this isn’t like a health related I need this surgery to live type of loan. So, we’ve got the cash to pay him back. The question is, AITAH for not wanting to pay him and keeping it for the group to use towards our big dinner for all the headaches and B S we have had to endure with him.
