I (34F) am with my bf(35M) of 2 years and he currently does not have a car. He used to but it got it totaled and he’s been running into problems with insurance, the title, getting a loan, and the people he surcharged the vehicle from originally. He works multiple jobs and has two daughters. He’s been catching Ubers and using friends/family car, but I see and notice him struggling and want to help. He’s never asked me for help about this. I have a good credit score and I’m sure I can help him get approved for a vehicle. At the same time…he hasn’t asked. I don’t want to just jump in and do it because I fear the things people say about how men will resent you later on in life. That perhaps he should go through this rough patch and figure it out himself as a man should. That’s he’s just a boyfriend and not my husband. Even so, I can’t get the feeling of wanting to help. Should I co-sign for him to get a vehicle or no? Am I an asshole if I don’t? I even spoke with the dealership he was looking into for a car and they mentioned something about a 6 month trial of where I’d be on the papers but then he would take over. Is that a program anyone has heard of?
