It doesn't even matter having this conversation because you're not going to change anyway.

I feel hopeless that things won't change.

If one of these statements were made at the end of an argument which would be considered more rude or instigating a fight?

We were already arguing and my partner said the first statement. I felt it was rude and unnecessary to say and started fighting with him because of it. Later we got into an hour argument that if the second statement were made instead it would not be considered to be as rude and I was trying to explain why but he thinks that both statements are equally rude and in fact the second statement is even more rude than the first and I am unable to explain how the second statement is not as ¿confrontational? as the first.

Am I wrong or can someone help me logically explain the difference?
