My friend, 17 F, asked for her birthday present on April 6th. Her birthday is in August. I, 18 F, have a hard time saying no to things (it's something I'm working on with my therapist) and, despite being horrified, I said OKAY. So, I bought her the Martha Manual by Martha Stewart. I knew for years it would be the gift I got her for 18th birthday, because of its practicality, plus it's a cool coffee table book!

Anyways, I told her I'd have her birthday present to her by the end of the week. Then, however, on the 8th, she texted me and asked me to buy her a Robux gift card. For the second time this week, I was insulted. She told me she'd pay me back, but was my birthday present to her not enough? Seriously!

I got upset and told her so. Then told her no and she went about her evening. However, I was fuming.

The fact that she had the gall to ask for her birthday present 6 months early was bad enough, but to ask for another thing on top of that? And to treat me like her fucking credit card? Like she lives with 15-minute walking distance of the store. She can walk, for fuck's sake! Or pay her parents!

So, because I was angry, I returned her gift. She will never be getting a gift from me ever again.

And I also want to say that I am thinking about ending this friendship for other reasons:

- We never initiate any time to hangout. I used to, but she was always busy, so I gave up.

- Our conversations are dry and sparse

- She only speaks to me when she wants something

- Overall, a very miserable relationship. It's literally hanging by the threads.

My father mentioned her asking about the gift 6 months early might something in her Chinese culture. I'm not sure if it's a culture thing, it might be, or it could be just ignorance. But she and I are both part American and it's definitely not that, because I never learned that behavior. I also know that in my French culture we don't do that shit.

Honestly, I think it's her just being a fucking, ignorant bitch.
