Today at lunch, I was talking about how I was scared to go to high school. A friend from my old school brought up someone I don’t have good history with. I said, “I’ll be a bitch if they’re being a bitch.” Then my friend—we’ll call her Vanilla—asked why I said that. So I told her the story. She told me to stop and later messaged me saying if I ever talked about her friend again, she wouldn’t be friends with me.

So I said “whatever” and apologized because she obviously got offended. I told her I’d leave her alone. Then she messaged me again and told me to "let go," like it was the easiest thing ever. The girl we were talking about, let’s call her Pinky, once told another friend of ours—we’ll call her Kay Kay—that I touched her and pulled on her skirt. She even said I touched her thighs, which is not true. Then she told Vanilla I tugged on her skirt and was being rude.

What really happened was, me and Pinky were in class. She fixed her leg and her skirt got caught on her boots. I could see her underwear, and so could anyone walking by. I called her name but she didn’t respond, so I tapped her shoulder and told her. She just said, “It’s fine, it’s fine,” and went back to what she was doing. I’ll admit I was being dumb—I fixed her skirt myself because seriously, who says “it’s fine” when their underwear is showing in a classroom?

After that, Pinky told Kay Kay and Vanilla a totally different story, and Kay Kay came up to me mad, saying, “You’re supposed to be a friend.” I explained what really happened, but she didn’t believe me. A few weeks later, Vanilla talked to me and I told her the truth too. She said Pinky told her a different version, and she wasn’t going to take sides. So I said okay.

Fast forward to today, we argued over text, and she told me to "let go" again. This all happened a year ago, and Vanilla clearly doesn’t even remember the details—she couldn’t even remember Kay Kay’s real name until I used her nickname.

I said the same thing back to her, "let go," and she snapped at me, told me to shut up, and said I always talk crap about people, which isn’t true. I only brought up why I didn’t like Pinky, and she acted like I made a death threat. She also said I bring up old drama all the time, which is total BS, because this was the first time I mentioned this in a year.

I also mentioned how Pinky once said I touched her boob, which never happened. That made Vanilla even more mad. She wouldn’t drop it, so I said, “Let’s just take a break,” and she said “Okay.” We haven’t talked since 11:44 AM, and she’s probably telling people about it now.

I told her I wouldn’t open up anymore because she made it into such a big deal. The crazy part is that she’s best friends with Pinky now, even though she once told me Pinky was being a complete asshole and they stopped being close for a while. But suddenly I’m the bad guy, just because I fixed her skirt when she was showing her underwear in front of everyone.
