I fucked up at work. Made a small mistake and my 50 y/o coworker was blabbering on about it.

How “you gotta be smarter when you work and you need to blah blah blah.”

It wasn’t coming from a place of kindness, it was bragging and self-back-patting.

So I was like “if you’re so good at work how Come you’re not like working on Wall Street right now living in the Hamptons?”

He was kinda taken aback by that, as if no one ever challenged his thought process ever before in his entire life.

Convo ended after that. Now I’m second guessing myself.
