Hi, so we're Muslim by birth. In our house dressing "appropriately" Isn't really a thing, even when we go outside we don't really "dress like a Muslim should" as it's normally 40°C outside in this country. My family doesn't really mind. (I'm 18 btw)
Now my mom's side is much more Muslim...if that makes sense. So much so that we dress up "appropriately" just to visit them and even dress for them when they visit us. Or else they shame us.
Last time my grandma was disappointed at me cause my ankle was revealed accidentally. She called me a 'shameless lady' and mom a 'failed parent'
This evening, my mom's colleagues came to visit us and I was there in the living room talking to them. I was wearing my comfy outfit which is tee and shorts. Suddenly my uncle (mom's brother) came. I knew he was coming but didn't know exactly when.
My mom quickly grabbed a cloth to hide her hair which she doesn't do outside btw. And signaled at me, I quickly went to my own room.
Now I can't help but feel like a disappointment. My parents didn't really say anything bad or shamed me. It's just me who's feeling like a disappointment, idk what I'll do if I visit them next time.
I'm crying...
AITA?
