📝 AITA for forgetting I had two cats because I like one more than the other?

So, this is going to sound bad—and maybe it is bad—but I’m trying to be honest here.

I have two cats. One is super friendly, affectionate, follows me around, purrs when I look at him, all that good stuff. The other… not so much. She’s skittish, hides a lot, doesn’t really like to be touched, and generally acts like I’m the intruder in her house.

The thing is, I really bonded with the affectionate one. We hang out constantly. I talk to him. He sleeps by my feet. We’re buds. The other one basically disappears for days at a time and only shows up to eat or knock something off a shelf just to remind me I’m not alone.

Anyway, I was talking with a friend about pets, and I casually said something like, “My cat is the best,” and she was like, “Don’t you have two cats?” And I totally blanked. Not even trying to be mean—I genuinely forgot for a second. I laughed it off, but she said it was kind of messed up and that I shouldn’t treat pets like people where I get to “pick favorites.”

So now I’m wondering—AITA for basically forgetting about my second cat because I prefer the one who actually acts like they want me around?
