Basically what the title states, I (22 F)was with my friend (22) in the library, I was working on some stuff to apply to a masters she was doing some homework and they confessed in their first year of uni they were really cocky and I agreed (jokingly) I said I had to admitt that when we first met eachother there was a period of time I would make up a fact and say it and she would say "oh I know that" but I only did it like two times, and once I got to know her I realized they were a amazing person and she laughed and said ya that sounds like first year her, but then they said I need admit something, she said she pretends to be stupid around me so I can talk about subjects to her and she does it all the time. My face got really red, and I asked her what she meant, she started to back peddle and was like "well your soooo smart and you don't get to show it off so I play stupid" but she kept saying terms like super duper smart and stuff like that and it felt super degrading, I told her that seemed a little mean spirit since what I confessed was four years ago and she was telling me something she does all the time. I shut down the conversation and I could see she was hurt. I also stopped really giving my opinion or explaining things in discussion now because I just feel like what's the point. Am I being a asshole?
