Hi everyone, I'm writing because I'm honestly not sure if I did something wrong.
I had been stuck at home for about two weeks due to stress and personal reasons. After all that time, I decided to go out for a short walk (about an hour and a half) with a longtime friend — someone I've known for over 10 years. He's gay, so there has never been and will never be anything romantic between us.
Before going out, I informed my boyfriend that I would be meeting this friend. While I was out walking, I also kept trying to text my boyfriend, just to stay connected and reassure him if needed, but he ignored my messages. After I got home, my boyfriend got extremely upset, broke up with me, and blocked me everywhere, without even wanting to talk about it.
Now, I need to mention that when we were younger, my friend did something inappropriate — he once masturbated while thinking about me and my best friend. We had a huge falling out over it, and we didn’t speak for about a year. After that, we talked things through, and we’ve been nothing but friends since. That incident was a long time ago, and my boyfriend knew about it from the beginning of our relationship. I thought we had moved on from this past situation, but it seems like my boyfriend is still angry about it, even though it happened many years ago.
This is actually the second time my boyfriend has reacted this way, but for a diffrent reason.
On one hand, I feel like I was completely honest and respectful. On the other hand, I'm still questioning whether I should have handled things differently somehow.
AITA?
